Older news
- No changes to Tscope itself - only made the site comply to the Ghent University
'huisstijl'.
- The Tscope installer does not rely on the Windows PATH variable anymore (finally!). (On
some systems the Cygwin4tscope installer could not add cygwin to the path, which resulted in
failing Tscope installations).
- Added a timing parameter (ts_waitmode) that reduces cpu usage - but also timing precision
- of Tscope programs. To be be used while developing and testing your programs - not during
experimental runs.
- Tscope is now compatible with Allegro 4.2.0 rc2 (Please note that Cygwin4tscope still
uses Allegro 4.0.3. Cygwin4tscope will only be updated when there's a new `stable'
release of Allegro).
- Changed installation method: the `binary installer' is replaced with an `automatic
installer' that compiles Tscope on the user's computer instead of just copying a
pre-built dll. This should rule out compatibility problems as the one encountered in Tscope
rc2-126. To the user the only noteable difference with previous versions will be that the
installer takes more time to complete.
- Bugfix binary installer version 126 (version 126 was made on an updated and
not-so-backward-compatible version of cygwin).
- Added widescreen resolutions.
- Split news page into news and older news.
- Buxfix page numbering pdf manual, slightly changed pdf layout.
- Screendump function now numbers its output files.
- Reorganized the navigation panel on the site. The codebase is now called the contrib
section, the documentation section is split into text documentation and codebase.
- Added a reference to the BRM article describing Tscope (see license).
- Compilation script now accepts .cpp files.
- Initialization of random seeds is now based on system time in clock tics (Windows
version) or in milliseconds (Linux version). Previously the time in milliseconds was used for
initialization - two programs started within the same second would have generated the same
random sequences.
- Bugfix to the random list without replacement-function. Previously the random number and
its position in the list could not be the same (number 0 could not be in position 0 of the
list, etc.). The algorithm first fills a list regularly and then randomly swaps around the
numbers in the list. Due to a counter error a number could not be swapped with itself (i.e.
remain on the same position).
- Added example experiments
- Changed mouse color to green, made sensitive area mouse button lager.
- Made some changes (improvements) to the documentation.
- Fixed a problem with setting the path on some systems (where there was a space in the
path).
- Made some changes to the shortcuts in the Crimson editor (Programs now run in a DOS box
which makes them easier to abort, added an update button that automatically installs the
latest version of Tscope)
- Changed the FAQ entries about fonts and keyboard layouts. Also added an entry about
screensavers.
- The text input/output functions now can handle characters with accents.
- The installer will look for Cygwin4tscope in the system root drive, not necessarily in
C:. If your system root drive is not C:, you should update Cygwin4tscope before you update
tscope. If you don't, your installation will not work.
- Game- and parallel port response button definitions have been extended to cope with
'inverded' keys.
- The font definitions now include characters with accents.
- The ttf2pcx program is included in the distribution (converts Windows fonts to a Tscope
readable format).
- The installer sets the path automatically, it is not necessary to do that by hand
anymore.
- Windows 98 and ME are not supported anymore by Cygwin4tscope, so you can't use these
architectures anymore for developing your program. On the other hand, a Tscope program that
has been compiled on 2000 or XP should still run on 98 and ME. See the faq for information on
how to run a Tscope program on a computer that does not have Cygwin4tscope installed.
- Cygwin now installs in the system root drive, rather than in C:. (On most computers C: is
the system root drive).
- There are some extra shortcuts in the Crimson editor (abort, clean up, ...).
- The run program shortcut should work on all computers (Previously, it did not work if
Windows was not installed in
C:\Windows
).
- Bugfix parallel port key on bit 7 (P5).
- Bugfix links codebase.
- Added some installation-related entries to the FAQ.
- Added some examples.
- Changed colors of the site.
- Added some audio stream functions.
- A new installer for Cygwin4tscope is online. It fixes the win9x execute shortcut in
Crimson editor.
- Fixed some bugs in release candidate 1.
- Moved Tscope dll to /bin, where Crimson editor can find it.
- Made compilation scripts in distro executeable.
- Fixed binary release (win98 problem).
- Changed css site (fix IE6 compatibility problem).
- Parport trigger function now resets port at first use.
- Screen init function now only runs once at startup Tscope.
- Release candidate 1 is online.
- Almost ready (source, installer, site, documentation).
- The examples section is not ready yet.
- Information for users of the experimental versions of Tscope is can be found over
here.
