Tests

The test programs can be viewed in highlighted html on this page, and are available as ASCII text files in the tests directory of the Tscope distribution.

The first program (testscreen.c) and config file (tscope.cfg) will help finding out which graphics modes are supported by your computer. Specifiy your graphics and timing parameters in tscope.cfg and then compile & run testscreen.c. If the specified graphics mode works on your computer tscope will open a window or screen and a perform short and long test of the vsync function. If the graphics mode is not supported tscope will close with an error message so you can try a different graphics mode.

The second group of test functions provide a way to find out which key definitions are assigned to the buttons of your response devices. For every device there is a different program (mouse, keyboard, joystick, game port box, parallel port box or serial port box on usb). These programs all work in a similar fashion: all buttons on a specific response device are activated and their code is printed on the screen. If a button is pushed the corresponding key definition will be highlighted in red.

Testsport.c works sligtly different: in a first phase the program will try to find out which port number is assigned to the response box (do not forget to install the necesarry drivers, see the FAQ), from there on it works just like the other test programs.
